tattoo

"Only after disaster can we be resurrected.
It's only after you've lost everything that you are free to do anything''
My first tattoo. It is part of a quote I say to myself whenever I feel down or when i feel like I am in a disaster, or I feel like I am loosing everything. It reminds me, everything will be okay.  It reminds me of all the things I have overcome in my life. So by getting the first line, I can say the seconded line to myself, remembering why I got it. It is a quote from Fight Club, my favorite book and movie.  Im ready for my next one.

having control with the unexpected.

this is just like my last experiment i did with the note cars, but this time i did it with bigger cards.
some day i hope to do this with canvas, so these just wont be small. go big or go home.
the seventh and last one are my favorite.
also the large one, where i smear the paint on, has not been photographed because something tells me not to.  so i wont. until then. enjoy these.

Nothing.

i made this with a broken record player and overlapping it with a song by John Brion that was the theme song for Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind.
i recently bought a digital voice recorder and hope to make more audio.

let it happen naturally.

after cleaning up after my installation in frame 301, i got to keep the wax and wanted to make something for the best minds show.
wood, old book pages, encaustic wax, screw

--------------------

"Meltdown."
wax balls were given to amber and i and we placed them on the metal tubes and weird shelf things.
then sun melted the wax in the frame, creating drips and pools of wax.
i took pictures through the glass, that is why you can see the clouds.
i took these after the wax had been in there for a week, the balls of wax had fallen to the ground.

no face.

i really enjoy this picture. I think it is the soft light and the fact I cannot see her face.

its getting the best of me.

moleskin, old book pages, acrylic paint, india ink, glue

the things i want and can not have.

this was an experiment i did with flash cards, paint, and charcoal.
i first would put paint and some charcoal randomly on a large piece of paper.
then draw things that i wanted but could not have on the note card.
and then i would smear, dip, press, twsit, rubb the note card in the paint and charcoal on the large paper.
by doing this i made several little paintings and one big one.
the photos are not that great.
the large piece is the first one.

it took me forever to make this.

im going to post work i am serious about here.
